Thoughtful Answers, Practical Conversations

Guides

Plain answers to questions about relationships, emotional strain and beginning therapy.

A place to put your questions into words

I am Azia Carter, LMFT. I write these guides to explain the concerns people bring to therapy and the approaches I use. Reading can help you identify a question or describe a pattern, but it cannot determine a diagnosis or replace a conversation about your own circumstances. Start with the topic that feels most relevant today.

Couples and Relationships

An argument can keep returning even when both partners want connection. These guides examine criticism, withdrawal, trust and the expectations that become visible when you share a home. I explain couples approaches in plain language and describe what you can bring to a first appointment, including uncertainty about the work.

Anxiety, Burnout and Mood

Looking organized may say little about how much effort your days require. Here I discuss worry, automatic agreement, exhaustion and changes in mood. These articles offer questions about patterns and capacity without turning those questions into a diagnosis. You can notice what fits your experience and leave what does not.

Trauma and Grief

Earlier experiences may influence how a present relationship feels, but they do not explain every interaction. I consider protective responses, personal context and choices about disclosure. Discussion of trauma can begin with what happens now; you do not have to tell a complete history to have a useful conversation about its impact.

Starting Therapy and Cost

Questions about beginning therapy often include what to say, which format to choose and how fees work. The first-session guide above offers a starting point for couples. For current session details, visit Rates and Insurance or ask during a phone consultation. This group will gather additional educational articles as they become available.
