FAQ Group 1
Getting Started
How do I begin?+
Call or email to request a free 15-minute phone consultation. You can ask practical questions before deciding whether to schedule.
What happens during the consultation?+
We discuss what is going on, what you hope will change and whether Carter Cares may fit. It is a phone call, not a therapy session.
Who does Carter Cares work with?+
Sessions are for adults 18 and over, along with couples and families. Common concerns include anxiety, burnout, depression, grief, trauma, conflict and life transitions.
FAQ Group 2
Sessions
How often are sessions?+
Individual, couples and family therapy sessions are weekly. A regular schedule gives the work a consistent structure.
How long is individual therapy?+
Individual sessions last 45 minutes and cost $200. Clear goals are set in the first session.
How long are couples and family sessions?+
Couples and family sessions last 60 minutes and cost $250. They are available in person or online.
FAQ Group 3
Fees and Insurance
Do you take insurance?+
No. We are private pay and outside all insurance networks.
Are superbills available?+
Yes. Ask for a superbill if you want to seek out-of-network reimbursement; your plan makes that call. Ask your plan about its benefits and submission rules.
How does Thrizer support insurance reimbursement?+
Our partner Thrizer offers benefits estimates, session payments, supported claim submission and reimbursement tracking. You can pay the full fee, or eligible clients may choose Thrizer Pay for an estimated out-of-pocket payment at the session. Thrizer explains its fees before you choose; your insurance plan decides coverage and reimbursement.
What is the cancellation policy?+
To cancel or move a session, let us know 48 hours ahead; a late cancellation or missed session is billed at the full fee.
FAQ Group 4
Online Therapy
Where is online therapy available?+
Online sessions are available anywhere in New York State for individual, couples and family therapy.
Where must I be during an online session?+
You must be physically located in New York State during the appointment, even if you normally live elsewhere.
Are evening appointments available?+
Yes. Evening appointments are available. Ask about current scheduling during the free phone consultation.
FAQ Group 5
Couples and Families
Will the therapist take sides in couples therapy?+
No. The focus stays on the relationship pattern and each partner's part in it. Both partners have room to speak.
What concerns can couples bring?+
Couples can bring recurring conflict, communication concerns, trust and shared life transitions such as moving in, marriage, a new job or a baby.
Who attends family therapy?+
Adult family members can attend, and who joins may change across sessions based on the goals and which relationships need attention.
Still Deciding?
A short phone call can cover what this page cannot.
The free 15-minute consultation gives you room to ask about your concern, scheduling and fit. You can describe the main issue without sharing every detail. The call can also clarify whether individual, couples or family therapy makes the most sense, and whether an in-person or online appointment works better for your week.
If Carter Cares is not the right fit, you will receive an honest answer. You are not committing to a session by making the call.
