A Conversation That Matters
Therapy in Gramercy
A regular conversation for relationships, grief and the strain you have been keeping to yourself.
In person or onlineCare That Starts With Your Priorities
A difficult season can involve several concerns at once. You might be grieving while also supporting relatives, managing work and arguing with a partner. Therapy does not require choosing one concern and pretending the others are absent.
Azia Carter, LMFT, works with adults ages 18 and up. Her compassionate, direct style leaves room for feelings while keeping the conversation connected to your actual circumstances.
What Connection Can Ask of You
A young couple may love each other and still feel lonely during recurring disagreements. One person pushes for a response; the other withdraws. Sessions look at how that exchange develops and what each partner is trying to communicate.
Family therapy can address conflict or shifting roles. Individual sessions may focus on anxiety, depression or the pressure to hold everyone else together before considering yourself.
Grief Does Not Need a Clean Explanation
A loss can affect concentration, patience and how close you feel to others. We can make space for those effects without deciding how quickly you should feel different.
Young adults and professionals can also use therapy to think through changes in direction. We work toward more understanding and clearer choices, while recognizing that uncertainty may remain part of the situation.
The Conversation, Week by Week
In the initial session, you and Azia identify goals and discuss the concerns that feel most urgent. Later meetings return to recent experiences and patterns that deserve attention.
Depending on your needs, she may draw on family systems thinking, psychodynamic therapy or mindfulness-based approaches. You can ask questions about the approach rather than having to agree to unfamiliar language.
