I want therapy to feel personal
I am an Afro-Caribbean woman, raised in the Bronx and proud of my Jamaican heritage. Those parts of me matter in how I listen, how I understand family, and how I validate the experiences of people of color.
I work with adults, couples and families. I am compassionate and direct, because care can be warm while still making room for an honest look at what is happening.

Care Should Feel Like Care
I spent about two years in community mental health watching good people wait months for support. That experience stayed with me.
I opened Carter Cares to offer the kind of personal attention I would want for my own family and friends. The practice gives us room to set clear goals, pay attention to the relationships around you and keep the work connected to daily life.
How I Work
Compassionate, Direct and Aware of Context
Family systems view. I pay attention to the patterns, roles and relationships that influence how you respond.
Client-centered care. Your priorities shape the goals we set and the pace of our work.
Multiculturally competent care. Culture, race, identity and lived experience belong in the conversation when they matter to you.

Who I Work With
When You Look Fine but Feel Worn Down
Many of my clients are women in their 20s and 30s who are handling work, relationships and expectations while anxiety, burnout or depression builds quietly. I also work with young adults, college students, young professionals and people facing a career change, grief or loss.
Couples often come in because they love each other and still keep returning to the same argument. Families may be dealing with conflict, a major transition or communication that leaves everyone frustrated.

Outside the Office
The Things That Keep Me Grounded
I love traveling and have visited many countries. At home, you may find me taking my dog to the dog park or spending time in nature. The sunflower in the Carter Cares logo stands for growth, resilience and positivity, values I carry into my work.
Care can be honest, culturally aware and personal.
