Our Approach

How Therapy Works Here

Compassionate, direct care with clear goals and attention to the relationships, culture and experiences that shape you.

01

The First Session

We use the first session to understand what brings you in and set clear goals.

02

Family Systems Thinking

Azia considers family roles, relationships, culture and repeated patterns around a concern.

03

Methods Chosen With Purpose

The approach depends on the client, the goal and what is happening in the room.

Methods Azia Uses

Tools for Different Kinds of Work

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Azia uses CBT to notice connections among thoughts, feelings and actions. Sessions can examine patterns that keep stress or negative thinking active.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Azia uses IFS to understand different parts of a person's inner experience. The work makes room for protective responses without letting them run every decision.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Azia uses EFT to help couples recognize the cycle underneath recurring conflict. Partners can practice reaching for connection in clearer ways.

The Gottman Method

Azia uses the Gottman Method to identify communication patterns and build practical relationship skills. This may include working on conflict, friendship and shared meaning.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Azia draws on psychodynamic therapy to connect present reactions with earlier experiences and relationship patterns. Insight can create more choice in how you respond now.

Mindfulness-Based Approaches

Azia uses mindfulness-based approaches to slow down and notice what is happening in the present moment. This can make thoughts, emotions and physical cues easier to observe.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Azia uses solution-focused therapy to identify useful strengths, exceptions and next steps. The work stays connected to the goals named in the first session.

Individual Work

Understanding Your Patterns

Individual therapy may examine thoughts, reactions and expectations connected to anxiety, burnout, depression, trauma, grief or change.

Couples Work

Changing the Cycle Between You

Couples therapy focuses on the pattern between partners, including communication, recurring conflict and connection.

Culture and Identity

Your Context Belongs in the Room

Culturally aware care, including validating what people of color experience, matters to Azia. As an Afro-Caribbean woman raised in the Bronx with Jamaican heritage, she recognizes how culture and family expectations can shape the conversation.

You decide which parts of your identity matter to the work.
