Room for Your Concerns
Therapy in Murray Hill
A place to consider the anxiety, relationship strain or sadness that has been following you through the week.
In person or onlineLooking Fine Can Take a Lot of Effort
You might keep appointments, meet deadlines and make plans while feeling increasingly depleted. Women in their 20s and 30s can use therapy to discuss the worry or depression that others do not see.
Burnout is worth naming before you have an explanation for every symptom. Young adults and professionals may also bring uncertainty about careers or relationships without needing a crisis to justify the appointment.
Make the Concern More Understandable
Azia Carter, LMFT, begins with your account of what is happening and sets clear goals with you in the first meeting. Weekly sessions can return to patterns in thoughts, emotions and responses.
She may draw on CBT, IFS or mindfulness-based approaches. You are welcome to say when something does not feel relevant; understanding your experience matters more than making it fit a theory.
Shared Work for Familiar Arguments
Couples often need more than another discussion about the same disagreement. We look at what happens between partners when they feel criticized, unheard or shut out. EFT and the Gottman Method can inform that work.
Family sessions can explore conflict and life changes. Grief may be a focus for an individual or something that changes the way several family members relate to one another.
