Support for Adult Family Members

Family Therapy in NYC

Weekly sessions for families dealing with increased conflict, life transitions or communication that has become strained.

Who It Is For

When a concern affects more than one person

A change in one relationship can affect the whole family. Adult family members may notice more arguments, long silences, confusion about roles or a shared loss that each person handles differently.

Family therapy gives those experiences a place to be discussed together. It can be useful when communication at home feels stuck or a transition has changed what everyone expects from one another.

A Family Systems View

Patterns matter more than blame

Family systems thinking considers the family as a connected system. When one person responds, others react, and familiar sequences can form over time.

The work is not about naming one person as the problem. We look at what happens between family members, what each response may be protecting and where the pattern can change.

How Sessions Work

The right people for each conversation

Family sessions are 60 minutes and take place weekly. Who attends can change across sessions, depending on the concern, the goals and which relationships need attention.

Azia helps family members slow down tense exchanges, hear what may be missed and speak more directly. Sessions keep returning to shared patterns and the changes each person can practice.

Some meetings may include everyone involved. Others may focus on a smaller part of the family system so a particular relationship or decision can receive closer attention.

Every person can affect the pattern.

Family therapy makes room to understand each perspective while keeping attention on the interactions that shape life together. Small changes in one exchange may create new options for the next conversation.
